Calochortus superbus (Liliaceae) is a bulbous plant endemic to California, closely related to C. luteus, growing in grasslands and dry slopes. In spring it produces large, cup-shaped flowers of creamy white to pale yellow, marked at the petal base with purple blotches edged in yellow, sometimes more strongly coloured. Grow in full sun, in light, well-drained soil kept dry in summer; hardy to around -10 °C.
