Tecophilaea cyanocrocus — Chilean crocus



One, often two flowers are produced per stem, of intense vivid gentian blue with a white throat. Flowers 5cm across when fully open.

To grow in a sandy substrate. Very slow to multiplie, but makes some seed in certain conditons.Phillips and Rix: "T. cyanocrocus grows in the Cordillera ofSantiago at around 3000m, where it grows on stony slopes kept dry and protected by snow cover in winter"
