Triteleia lemmonae

The correctly spelled name is Triteleia lemmoniae, honoring American botanist Sara Plummer Lemmon. Endemic to Arizona, it is the only species in the genus Triteleia native to that state, the others being mostly Californian. This bulbous perennial in the family Asparagaceae forms a tuft of narrow leaves and a slender stem up to 30 cm tall, bearing an umbel of bright yellow to orange, star-shaped flowers. Flowering occurs in spring. It grows well in full sun, in well-drained soil, with a dry summer rest period typical of bulbs from the American Southwest.
