Tulbaghia montana

Native to South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, Eastern Cape), Tulbaghia montana is a bulbous or rhizomatous perennial in the Amaryllidaceae family. Compact and clump-forming, it produces garlic-scented linear leaves, followed by a flowering stem topped with an umbel of numerous bright orange, tubular flowers with a small cup-shaped corona. Flowering occurs mainly in summer. This mountain species grows well in full sun, in well-drained soil that stays cool during growth, and tolerates a drier rest period outside the growing season.
