Native to the Savoy Alps of France (also recorded in Italy and Switzerland), Tulipa marjolettii is a botanical tulip now considered extinct in the wild, having been severely depleted by collecting. It produces lance-shaped, grey-green leaves and a solitary, bowl-shaped flower with pointed, creamy to pale yellow petals, flushed with raspberry-red to pink on the outer face and at the base. Flowering occurs in late spring. It requires a sunny position, well-drained mountain-type soil, and dry summer dormancy.
