Uropetalum

Uropetalum is an old generic name now merged into Dipcadi (Asparagaceae, formerly Hyacinthaceae), most notably for the plant once called Uropetalum serotinum, now Dipcadi serotinum. As the exact species meant by this label could not be confirmed, the description is given at genus level. Dipcadi comprises geophytes with a fairly large whitish bulb, native from the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean basin to the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent. Linear, channelled leaves accompany a one-sided raceme of nodding, yellowish to greenish-brown flowers with reflexed tepals, in spring and summer. Grow in well-drained, sunny conditions with a dry summer dormancy.
