Calochortus venustus (Liliaceae) is a bulbous plant endemic to California, growing in grassland and chaparral of the coastal ranges and the Sierra Nevada. It is prized for the great variability of its cup-shaped flowers, ranging from white to yellow, pink or purple, each petal bearing a distinctive eye-like blotch. Grow in full sun, in light, well-drained soil kept dry in summer during dormancy; hardy to around -10 °C.
