Watsonia sp Porterville

This Watsonia, associated with the locality of Porterville, a Swartland town (Western Cape) at the foot of the Olifants River Mountains, belongs to a South African iridaceous genus of over 50 species centred in the Western Cape. Growing from a tunicated corm in a range of soils (rocky sandstone slopes, clay or deep sand at the foot of mountains), it produces fan-arranged, sword-shaped leaves and a tall spike of tubular flowers, often pink, red or orange. Grow in full sun with well-drained soil.
