Zwanenburgs Glory

Babiana stricta 'Zwanenburgs Glory' (Iridaceae) is a selected cultivar of the South African baboon flower, native to the Cape province. It stands out for its intense, luminous purple-violet, cup-shaped flowers, carried in fragrant spikes above ribbed, hairy foliage in the southern spring. Like the species, it forms dense clumps from naturally multiplying corms. Grow in full sun, in well-drained soil, keeping dry during summer dormancy; ideal in pots or a sunny border.
