Dear gardening friends,
Our planting season summer 2011 is already well behind us. The unusual drought during September October, was fortunately interrupted by the heavy rains of early Novembre. Immediately after there was a terrific development of the bulbvegetation: In the lawns suddenly appeared the Alliums, Ornithogalum, Ipheion etc. The flowering of Crocus, Amarcrinum, Crinum and Amarine is at the end, but Cyclamen, Nerine, Iris unguicularis, Narcissus tazetta Paperwhite are now at their best. The flowers of Dahlia imperialus are just now opening up. A nice show to brighten up the dark days of November.
Concerning the work in the nursery: After the planting we are now finishing the mulching of the beds with shredded plant material or straw. (this to prevent erorison by heavy rainfall and for weedcontrol)
In January and February we will have short shipping season for the remaining summergrowers: Crinum, Apios, Hedychium, Dahlia, Nerine.
The big event of the spring 2012 will be our "open days" on the 21-22/04/2012
Look forward to seeing there
Lauw and Joelle de Jager
