Gladiolus bicolor

Acidanthera bicolor is the former name given to what is now classified as Gladiolus murielae, native to the highlands of Ethiopia. The epithet "bicolor" recalls the contrast between the white petals and the dark purple blotch at the throat, clearly visible in late summer on this fragrant bulb. Grow in full sun, in rich, well-drained soil, planting the corms in spring; lift before winter in cold climates.
