Iris stenophylla

Iris stenophylla belongs to the Juno group and was discovered in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains in southern Turkey, where it grows on rocky hillsides between 400 and 2000 m elevation. Closely resembling Iris persica in form, it produces a small bulb from which narrow leaves arise. In early spring it opens violet to lilac-blue flowers, the drooping falls marked with a yellow or orange crest surrounded by a white, violet-spotted zone. Like other Juno irises, it requires well-drained soil, a sunny position and a dry summer dormancy.
