Galanthus maximus

Often sold as Galanthus 'Maximus', this robust form of Galanthus elwesii, the giant snowdrop from Turkey and the Balkans, is distinguished by particularly broad leaves and larger flowers than the type. Like the species, it flowers from late winter, white with green markings inside. Grow in cool, humus-rich, well-drained soil, in partial shade, in woodland or lawns; it naturalises over time and forms attractive clumps.
