"Niflorum" is a misspelling of uniflorum, the epithet of the most widely grown bulb in the Ipheion-Nothoscordum-Tristagma complex, generally known as Ipheion uniflorum. Native to Argentina, Uruguay, and southern Brazil, it produces narrow, onion-scented foliage and a solitary, fragrant star-shaped flower per stalk, from white to blue-violet depending on the cultivar. Its early flowering spans late winter to spring. Easy to grow in well-drained, sunny soil, naturalising via offsets in borders or rockeries.
