Pardancanda x norrisii

Pardancanda x norrisii (now reclassified as Iris x norrisii, the 'candy lily') is a bigeneric hybrid created in 1967 by American breeder Samuel Norris, crossing Pardanthopsis dichotoma (the vesper iris) and Belamcanda chinensis (the blackberry lily), both now included in the genus Iris. From this parentage it inherits iris-like fan-shaped foliage and a wide diversity of flower colors, often spotted, ranging from yellow to orange and purple. Flowering occurs in summer. It grows well in full sun, in well-drained soil, and proves hardier and more free-flowering than either parent.
