Allium schoenoprasum

Allium schoenoprasum, or chives, is a bulbous perennial with a very wide native range covering Europe, Asia and North America. It forms a dense clump of bright green, tubular leaves with a mild onion scent, used as a culinary herb. In early summer, umbels of pink to mauve flowers, also edible, open above the foliage. Easy to grow, it thrives in a sunny to part-shaded position, in cool, well-drained soil, and appreciates regular watering.
